God Wants Pope Francis To Be The First Vegan Pope And
Powerful Voice For The Voiceless. The letter below will be mailed to 5 separate addresses for Pope Francis. Then a few days later I will begin mailing  copies of the original letter with a cover letter to 1000 Catholic religious leaders throughout the United States as well as 12 letters to Catholic religious leaders close to Pope Francis in the Vatican. I hope you will read the letter and watch the videos that are recommended and be willing to share with everyone you think should know about this worthy effort for all animals.

“Dogs here were always working animals, kept on short chains and it was illegal to keep them in the house,” Michelle Jones of K9 Rescue Bulgaria explains. “They were seen as dirty vermin; cats were seen as mousers, having to feed themselves and nothing more. Unwanted cats and dogs were either killed or simply thrown on the street. The result, hundreds of thousands of strays roamed the street, multiplying naturally.”

Only in the last few years has there been some evidence of baby steps toward a more humane culture, but for rescuers like Diane who confront the pervasive conditions of neglect, there simply won’t be a ‘slow day’ for the rest of their lives.

Bringing in another box with a puppy inside

The Rowles have made animal rescue a family affair, opening their self-bought animal shelter a couple years back with help from a handful of supporters. They operate their charity under the name Rudozem Street Dog Rescue and did the best they could at the the time, acquiring an old building and some land that could eventually become a pristine shelter and sanctuary. But the dogs and cats keep coming at a rapid fire pace. People tie their animals in sacks and hurl them at the gates of the shelter or leave them in the middle of the night, sealed in cardboard boxes. With no municipal support and no network of local foster homes to rely on, the Rowles are on their own and their only option is to open each box and bag and introduce themselves to the terror-stricken animals inside.

So, if you can help out:

Finally! We can stop the killing and expand the sanctuary!

We have an incredible opportunity to save thousands of lives by finally and permanently closing down an animal breeding and killing property while simultaneously expanding the sanctuary with another 35 acres. Will YOU please help us?

By raising $80,000 ASAPPeaceful Prairie Sanctuary can buy the land which will allow us to save more lives than ever before and continue our vegan advocacy work. Due to the Agricultural zoning, if anyone else purchases this property, they will have to use the land to enslave and exploit animals.

This land has been the site of multiple animal massacres. Please help us purchase it for the sanctuary so it can be transformed into a place of safety, love, and freedom for animals forever!

We need your help urgently!

UPDATE

Thanks to those of you who have donated, we are able to place a down payment on the property, but still need another $63,000 to own it outright. With your help, soon we will be able to transform what was a place of breeding, exploiting, and killing individuals and families, to a place of peace, love and respect for all animals, as an expansion of Peaceful Prairie Sanctuary.

Please help us reach our goal of raising the remaining $63,000 still needed to purchase the property that has so much potential to save lives.

Hi everyone!

I've got a page on care2.com that I use on and off. Now, believe me, I know that care2 is heavily sponsored by the very corporations causing the problems that the site claims to be working against. But there are some good things about it, I guess (I do like the ecards and some of the petitions).

One thing they do is give you something called butterfly credits when you contribute to their online community, usually through posting replies and comments to the stories they post daily.

You can exchange these butterfly credits for "good" works - like, a certain number of credits can be redeemed to bottle-feed a kitten in need, or help provide water to people without clean water, or pencils for kids who need them for school.

It's definitely a band-aid approach and does not address the systemic underpinnings of a society that prefers to spend money on war and offshore accounts rather than worry about clean water for the world or making sure kids are educated (educated kids mean they can stand up to the Man, after all).

So I get all that. But I make comments, and I get credits and I might as well use them.

However, one thing you can get credits for is raising an animal (gag gag) "humanely" for food. Of course this is totally fucked up on so many levels. So I started a petition to have care2.com remove that option and to split it into two: feeding a sanctuary animal and sending financial support to HIPPO or VegFam. It's a slow-going petition, so if you could sign it and pass it around I'd appreciate it.

thanks!

Wendy, you might want to mention the preservation campaign on the horse lovers group...

50 wild horses from the US state of Nevada have been rounded up and the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) is getting ready to send them to slaughter today.

Please read these two links and help in any way you can: petitions, letters, financial donation (so the horses can be bought back - yes, I know buying animals is speciesist, but this is an emergency); if you know someone who can shelter some horses temporarily, that would help too.

EMERGENCY: WILD NEVADA MUSTANGS TO BE SOLD AT AUCTION TOMORROW!!

Tell BLM to cancel 5 year plan to remove wild horses from Nevada

Please 'like' the anti-fur Facebook page 'Beyond Retro •• Shame on You'.

Many thanks, C.A.F.T. (Coalition to Abolish the Fur Trade)
