i think i read somewhere that certain types of nuts (including cashews) are poisonous unless they are processed in some way. i have seen some bags of nuts labelled as 'raw ____' (just in the local corner shop) but yep i think you're right, need to do a bit more research.

thank you for the link btw woody, i live in the uk though so it might get a bit expensive ordering food from the us!

Nuts..... buy from suppliers that certify as raw...search on the internet. (I can provide links).  Whole Foods if in your area pasteurizes all nuts none are raw in the bulk bins. I think cashews have to be processed and heat is involved, so raw outside of a raw vendor is rare.  Of course there are debates within the community about "labeling" soem products so diligence is in order for researching products.

Here is a source I am fairly confident.. Matt monarch and Angela Stokes:

i know that it probably varies depending on where you buy them, but i'd like to know which nuts are commonly sold raw. raw almonds are quite common right? it's hard to tell as packaged nuts from shops rarely seem to state whether or not they have been treated in some way :/ advice please!

I was told that if they heat the vegetables in any way that they bag would state that they have been blanched. I hope that helps. For green smoothies I tend to buy a lot of unfrozen spinach, and freezing it.

Soy Milk is not raw. To make soy milk they have to boil the soybeans at a high temperature. The best bet for a raw milk is to make your own almond milk.

Can you get raw frozen spinach? I like making green smoothies using spinach (they are yummier than one would think), but I read that sometimes they flash heat the spinach to shrink it down. What about other frozen veggies? Thanks for your help.
