Great news on the EU ban on animal cosmetics testing :-)

Finally got the start of a proper products list in the 'Directory'.

Rose Watson kindly pointed out that "Superdrug's parent company tests on animals, a few ... use palm oil ... Urban Decay also pissed people off with the proposition to do business in China".

Yes Bekki, Lush is very popular, and they are often quite amenable to hosting veg*n events too.

Not sure what you guys think of lush but I got their latest solid conditioner and its amazing. I don't generally need to condition my hair very often so for people who need a heavy moisturiser for their hair it probably wont be good enough but it leaves my hair baby soft <3 it was £10 for a block that will probably last a easily 6 months or so and it is labelled as Vegan in store :D combined with their seanik shampoo bar the smell is gorgeous.

People always seem to overlook that a/the main ingredient in most toothpaste is silica, which is just sand... so any abrasive (e.g. baking soda, sand, burnt cow dung!) will do.

It makes me laugh that people effectively sandpaper off the enamel that naturally protects their teeth, and then wonder why they still need to see a dentist to have a filling.

Like stripping your hair of its natural oils, that keep it shiny and healthy, with shampoo, and then having to replace them with conditioner... how gullible are we?!

Hey, wanted to try to post in the discussion "Affordable Cruelty-Free Products" but it's closed- so, I'll just post here:) The most affordable products are the ones you make yourself with things that you have on hand. Not only is this more affordable, it gives you more control over what you use on your body and has worked for women who had to care for themselves long before commercial products came along. There's a lot of information on the Internet if you just search keywords (Beauty homemade DIY recipes {you could add in a particular ingredient like avocado or baking soda if that's what you would like to use} ). The Mistry's line I mentioned before is also very affordable. There are also books on homemade beauty products if you'd prefer to have one. Here are a couple of sites you might like to reference (many use eggs, milk and honey, but have vegan recipes too):

Yes - baking soda! I use it a lot, even for washing my hair. I do not use it every wash, I maybe use it once a month. It's good for cleansing the scalp to get rid of excess sebum and product build up, that said, best used for these purposes. In other words, if you don't have build up or lots of sebum, use sparingly. Always gently caress the scalp. It also changes the PH of your hair, so people with chemical treatments should also take caution. Nonetheless, it is nontoxic and when used correctly, does the business! I have improved dental health now for trading in my toothpaste for baking soda and salt!  I brush only once a day and have rid myself of gingivitis, I now have an A+ at the dentist:) Baking soda has so many uses (just ask Grandma!), if anyone is interested, just message me and I'll be glad to help:)

Nice group! Here's one of my favorites and they are based in London - Mistry's . I'm a stickler for quality and purity (I actually make most of my own personal care products), so trust me, when I say good - I mean it! Their products are organic, completely herbal, cruelty-free (they even donate a percentage of their sales to the International Animal Rescue organisation) and last but not least - the stuff works!   http://www.houseofmistry.com/about/the_house_of_mistry/ Though their products are sold in health food stores - they have their own shop too!
