A common blog subject, I figured it needed its own group.

Cheap non-leather shoes might use animal based glues, and often don't last long...
Volentian Michael Kelly, who shops at Vegetarian Shoes of Brighton, reckons that whilst a work pair might cost £80, they generally last 4-5 years. Hiking boots he bought for around £100 are still going strong after 4 years, and a lot of time in the mountains.
Good articles on Kids' vegan shoes and boots and Eco-friendly ones (do read the comments).

Comment by Richard Ⓥ Molyneux on May 11, 2013 at 12:58am Sorry, I've still to add those links, I'm just looking into the Novacas brand first.
FYI. This was taken from TOMS website.
TOMS shoes are currently manufactured in Argentina (Giving shoes only), China, and Ethiopia (Giving shoes only).
When did Toms change countries? Last I checked all their shoes were made in China. In fact, my TOMS say Made in China.
Comment by Bert on May 1, 2013 at 5:27am There is another sale at fab with vegan shoe's. And for the people who care about there ecological footprint, they come from Argentina
Sanuk, Simple and Earth Shoes are all manufactured in China. Yes, it's nice to see so many offers but I'd rather buy myself a pair of vegan shoes manufactured in the UK, France, Germany, Australia or the U.S. over something made in China. This way we stimulate the economy of our respective countries.
Oh, and I agree on ethical wares. I have a pair of their shoes and and are amazing. I believe they are the best vegan company in the UK.

Yes, it's interesting to see companies like Eco/Wills Vegan Shoes and Civic Duty embracing new and interesting materials.
Comment by Kirsty Law on April 27, 2013 at 4:10am Have just come across Civic Duty shoes on the Fab website, they're on offer there for the next couple of days. Couldn't resist the Fascination style for myself, perfect timing as I've been looking to replace a similar style pair I have, which may or may not be vegan - great to know these are! Also, a really interesting concept with the material used :)
"The surprising thing about my shoes is how lightweight and comfortable they are! The Tyvek material looks and feels like paper, but is practically indestructible. To top things off, they’re water resistant, recyclable, and vegan!" – Steven Weinreb, Founder & Chief Inspiration Officer, Civic Duty

Comment by Richard Ⓥ Molyneux on April 16, 2013 at 5:58pm I had a long chat today with fellow vegan William Green; if you ever saw Eco Vegan Shoes at a show, chatted on the 'phone or Facebook, or exchanged emails, that was probably him.
He recently resigned in order to found Wills Vegan Shoes (sign up to enter his Golden Ticket Competition), to provide "great vegan shoes with high street styles and prices", with his new ladies' and men's range due this autumn (he hopes to show some at May's Bristol VegFest).
P.S. Eco Vegan Shoes' site is down whilst they move their operations, William is personally guaranteeing every customer's order.
Comment by Richard Ⓥ Molyneux on April 5, 2013 at 5:51pm Cheers Adrian, and welcome to the group... when I get a chance I'll look for links, and add any I find to the list.
