Err, I'm no athlete (unless you include running/scooting for buses/trains/collecting the kids from school/etc.?!), but I'll hang on here a bit... just in case anyone wants me to make them a group admin.
HI, I just joined. I'm training for a half marathon next month!
not sure if I qualify as an athlete -- I'm guessing I run 7.5 miles twice a week. Does that qualify? maybe once I finish my uni course, I'll put more time into it!
As group creator Sam is taking a leave of absence, would any of you like to become admins on here?
Hello everybody, great to see so many fit and happy people. I'm a half- marathon and marathon runner. Is anybody doing Bath half-marathon in March or Toronto marathon in May? I've registered for both events and it would be nice to meet some fellow participants.
I'm a member of West 4 Harriers running club in Chiswick (West London). It's a really social, friendly club for people on various levels and with different running experience (not veggie though). It would be amazing to have more veg*n athletes there. Get in touch! x
Hi there everyone - i have been vegan for 11 years now - always been healthy but trying to get enough protein without eating way too many carbs. I work out at least 5 times a week, cardio and weight training mixture but am wondering if anyone has any excellent tips of proteins that are not hitting the roof in carbs. I generally eat lots of beans, tofu, seeds, nuts etc.
Just started training for a half marathon in Sept. Have been a smoking, beer drinking couch potato for so long. Running a bit and stopped smoking, beer remains. Need some motivation! It's hard going, mostly staying motivated but managing to get out 4 times a week. Not aiming to break any records just want to finish. Now the cheeky bit.
I am raising money for a mental health charity in the UK, www.rethink.org. If you would like to donate go here: http://www.justgiving.com/Michael-Kelly70.
Thanks for you time
I don't think I would call myself an athlete but I have just started doing a series of 10km runs. At about 7km I seem to get a pain in my shoulder so I have to slow down or stop and it goes in a few minutes. Has anyone got this as well, is it something about blood circulation? I wondered what exercise I could do to stop it, or should I just run through it?
