I recently checked out organic gardening books from the library. Is composting a good idea? I mean, how do you prevent bugs, fugus, and other harmful bacterias from ruining the fertilizer? It confused me a little.

I like gardening but I don't have one right now :( Limited to a pot of basil and a two tier seed sprouter right now.
