Meet Vegans and Vegetarians From Around The World
If US regs aren't changed we could be subjected to transgenic animal material in our diet without our knowledge.
Our numbers are growing but who will speak for us? We've a stake in the outcome let's unite to prevent it, demand labelling.

Comment by Brian Kd Lehmann on September 7, 2011 at 12:47pm I'm mildly ambivalent about this post, only because my grandfather was from Bavaria. otherwise, this is a very good piece of news:
Comment by Brian Kd Lehmann on September 7, 2011 at 12:42pm Nia, this may seem mild by comparison, but a problem with 'corporate personhood' is that, unlike humans, they tend to immortalize. to me the idea of extending equal protection, as envisaged for individuals, to corporations, is ridiculous. we definitely need fragmentation of these conglomerates that have evolved with unrestrained capitalism, as if on steroids, perhaps like was done with AT&T back when.
see the following post for better news from the EU.

Comment by Brian Kd Lehmann on September 6, 2011 at 12:57pm thx for posting Nia. I realized I should update a prior post.
in a remarkable turnaround in July in Geneva, the US dropped its long-standing opposition to Codex GMO labeling guidance. while the language does not confer consumers' right to know, it does allow countries to require labeling of GMOs for the purpose of post market monitoring, without threat of lawsuits from the WTO.

thats the good news. immediately following, or perhaps preceeding (as suggested by some evidence), the USDA dropped any pretence of regulating a Roundup Ready bluegrass, since the technology did not introduce a 'plant pest' into the genetic transformation. this could obviate the need for USDA regulation of any future GMO which utilizes the technology.

how ridiculously absurd is it for USDA to discontinue regulation as a plant pest, or noxious weed, of any variety that swallows up via pollination anything in its path, and spawns new generations of resistant superweeds in its wake,,,,,,,,,?
hope y'all had a good Labor Day, where applicable

Comment by Brian Kd Lehmann on July 11, 2011 at 4:41pm Transgender Goats To Be Milked just another reason, especially for us as veg*ns, to remain vigilant against GMOs. also, check out the entire IRT website.
they're involved in creating a Tipping Point Network (TPN) which, by educating others, might drive manufacturers into futility with a surprisingly small percentage of engaged consumers.
IRT leads in the way to GMO avoidance, even outside total organic consumption.
IRT was founded by probably the world's foremost expert on the hidden dangers of GMOs to health, Jeffrey Smith.
