**First off, before I explain this, I'd like to say that I don't smoke weed because simply, I don't need to. Even if someone were to ask me, I'd probably decline. Why? because I can. I never have…Continue

Audri, I'm the same way. I used to smoke tobacco cigarettes. I stopped because being veggie made my body feel so much better. I wouldn't smoke pot because of the same reason. It's bad for you, anything you smoke is bad for you. No one should care about varying degrees of "badness".

I feel that my sobriety not only gives me focus to help do better work for the animals, but I save money from not buying recreational drugs (including alcohol and tobacco) which can also be used for more positive and useful things.

About half of my friends smoke and about half of those smoke pot. I'd used to smoke but very rarely like once every 4-6 months and I only smoke pot less than 10 times in my life time. The reason I stopped was because yes I became a vegan for the animals but also to be healthy, so if I didn't stop I would have been a hyprocrite and I didn't want to be one. I haven't had a smoke for almost a year now, and whenever I'm around that stuff and I smell it, I get sick, and wonder how I used to smoke it.

I think my best friend had one of the best reasons to quit smoking pot. I've never smoked it and I don't plan to, but he smoked for quite a while. When he quit smoking a few weeks ago I asked him why. His answer, "... getting high just isn't something I see successful people doing."
He's vegan and a very smart person, and I'm so proud of him for quitting.

I am just over it. My tolerance for this and similar bullshit people waste their lives on is waning. If it doesn't affect you, why would you spend time or money on it? If it isn't addictive, why wouldn't you just stop? Do you want to relax? Or have fun? I really don't get the correlation, and it really is only the substance user's perspective because to everyone else they are either frustrating or annoying. Nothing relaxing or fun about that.

I used to smoke pot but stopped about 5 years ago. I am very happy with myself and the life I can give my daughter. I enjoy feeling clear minded. Plus I'm now in the military and going to school for criminal justice so thats just something that can not and will not ever be a part of my life.

Know how positive social movements fail? Not because of ideological weakness, but because of the decay of the flesh. They tried to stop the civil rights movement by injecting cocaine into black communities. The hippie movement was crippled beyond repair with many of its influential leaders died young from drug overdose...s. The gay community suffers from rampant alcoholism, and the animal rights movement is full of burn outs with smelly dreads who are all too easy to dismiss by the mainstream, meat eating population. When people's first impression of "vegan" or "vegetarian" is "pot smoking hippie", you know we need a better image.

i live in a town where a lot of the vegetarians who ive heard of, or know, live on a wee little "hippy" island off the coast, they dont shave, they bathe with natural ocean materials and smoke a ton of pot. its pretty much expected that if you dont eat meat, you smoke pot instead. now, i know what im missing, and it just doesnt do it for me. i dont need to smoke a fat j to have fun, relax or bond with the people around me. been there, done that in my high school years and all that happened was i met shady people in dark parks at 2 in the morning, or i met a bunch of people who i cant have an intelligent conversation with worth my life... oh sorry, they like to talk about conspiracy theories and how everyone was close-minded if they weren't a chronic.

that being said i actually have nothing against smoking pot, half the people i know and work with still do. im just tired of being bagged on because i pass up a joint.
